Dates and Participating Teams Announced for Thanksgiving Hoopfest, Red River Hoopfest and Holiday Hoopfest Basketball Showcases

13th Annual Thanksgiving Hoopfest will be joined by two inaugural events for the 2021 season

Dallas, TX (October 5, 2021) – Hoopfest Basketball, Inc. has announced its initial field of teams and dates for the 13th annual Thanksgiving Hoopfest in Dallas, TX, as well as two inaugural events with the Red River Hoopfest in Texarkana, TX, and Holiday Hoopfest in Salt Lake City, UT. Hoopfest is known as the premier high school holiday basketball showcase that brings together top talent from the best powerhouse programs from around the country. Schedules for each event will be released at a later date. Please note that each event will abide by local county COVID-19 regulations and is subject to change. “The success of Thanksgiving Hoopfest bringing together the best in high school basketball on a regional and national level has allowed teams to compete against other top programs from around the country and use the game as an early season measuring stick,” said Glenn Smith, President and Founder of Hoopfest Basketball, Inc. “Because of this success, we’ve been able to expand our footprint and introduce two new events to include even more top-flight programs. We thank Boost Mobile, True Capital, SEQL, Wingstop, Rick Smith State Farm Agency and the Witherspoon Law Group for their support in helping grow and expand this showcase to three dates and allowing us to host these outstanding teams in these first-rate events.”

Thanksgiving Hoopfest will take place from November 26-27 at Sandra Meadows Arena, in Duncanville, TX, home of the 3-time defending 6A Texas State Champions Duncanville High School. The event has 36 programs currently committed to play and will feature 5 consensus Top-25 recruits from the Class of 2022, including Amari Bailey (Sierra Canyon), Nick Smith Jr. (North Little Rock), Cason Wallace (Richardson), Anthony Black (Duncanville), Arterio Morris (Kimball), Kel’el Ware (North Little Rock), Janiah Barker (Montverde Academy), Ashlon Jackson (Hardin Jefferson, and Sa’Myah Smith (DeSoto). The Class of 2023 is just loaded with J.J. Taylor (Kenwood), Ron Holland (Duncanville), JaKobe Walter (McKinney), Jared McCain (Centennial), and Bronny James (Sierra Canyon).

Red River Hoopfest will happen from December 3-4 at Texas High School in Texarkana, TX. The event will debut with 11 teams from across Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. In addition to Anthony Black (2022) and Ron Holland (2023) of Duncanville High School, and Arkansas commit Derrian Fordthis. This event will feature some of the top talent from the Class of 2024 in Liam McNeely (John Paul II), David Castillo (Bartlesville) and Dallas Thomas (Parkview). 

Holiday Hoopfest is scheduled to occur from December 10-11 at Lehi High School in Salt Lake City, UT. The showcase will make its debut with 9 teams from Florida, Texas, Nevada, and Utah and will be headlined by Duncanville High School, Lehi High School and Farmington High School. Top players include Colin Chandler (Farmington), Marcus Allen (Miami Norland), and Sebastin Mack (Durango)

Each year’s event brings new and notable talent, with past participants including a variety of NBA professionals. Among the athletes who have played in the showcase are Jaylen Brown (Joseph Wheeler HS, Boston Celtics), Terrance Ferguson (Prime Prep Academy, Free Agent), De’Aaron Fox (Cypress Lakes HS, Sacramento Kings), Jalen Green (Prolific Prep, Houston Rockets), Bobby Portis (Hall HS, Milwaukee Bucks), Julius Randle (Prestonwood Christian Academy, New York Knicks), Marcus Smart (Edward S. Marcus HS, Boston Celtics), and Trae Young (Norman North HS, Atlanta Hawks). Each event is anticipated to sellout.
